When I discovered Sennheiser HD580/600/650 series I was thrilled. ( a Tyll recommendation )
Stax were the best, we all knew it but they were a bit of dedication to use and enjoy. And Pricy.
All the Electrostatics I've owned were Audiophile Class, pretty darn unique performers, fascinating designs, requiring special amplification but they all could play music like nothing else. Acoustat, Quad, Stax, etc. I still love those first generation Quads.
But:
I couldn't go back to Electrostatics, the Dynamic driver stuff is sooooo darn good and easy to use, the Active Dynamic Speaker Systems are outstanding ( like the Genelec stuff ).
Now:
My Audiophile adventures will come from rolling 6sn7 tubes, not from rolling different headphones... and possibly from exploring MQA infused Tidal collections of World music.
Stax were wonderful, in their day.
Thanks for the History Tour.
