CanJam at RMAF: ALO Audio

ALO Audio
One of the cool characteristics of many on-line headphone retailers is they will often have their own line of gear in addition to the more widely available products they sell. ALO has followed this road in sure-footed manner with a line of portable headphone amps, portable DACs, and specialty portable cables.

Many will be already aware of their Cypher Labs AlgoRhythm Solo ($579) portable DAC, and thier companion Rx Mk2 ($449) portable headphone amplifier, which is now getting a new big brother: the Rx Mk3-B ($650). This soon-to-be-released portable headphone amp has a balanced output, and a nicely executed variable bass-boost control.

I was particularly drawn to "The Continental" ($485) portable tube/hybrid headphone amplifier, which uses a Raytheon 6111 tube and a discrete transistor output stage. Ken said it runs about 6-7 hours on a charge. I'm looking forward to testing its yumminess 6 or 7 hours at a time.
