CES 2017: Meters Music OV-1 Active Noise Canceling Headphone

Here's an interesting bit of British bling. Prepping for CES I stumbled upon Meters Music OV-1 ANC headphone. To be honest, it was the backlit analog meters in each earpiece that had me tick the box for a visit. I'm an old school sucker that way I guess. This was Meters Music premier reveal as a brand, but parent company Ashdown Engineering has been making bass guitar amps and electronics since 1997.

Okay, the meter on the side is a gimmick. The first thought that came into my head was you couldn't see them when you were wearing them. OTOH, "How do I tell how loud my headphones are playing?" is one of the most common questions I get. It would have been cooler if they were gradated in dBspl at the ear rather than as a VU meter. Anyway, there are plenty of headphones where a significant amount of money is spent on styling, so why not a meter? I like it.

The headphone seemed quite well built. The sound was okay, nothing offensive on quick listen. I did feel the bass might be a bit bloomy. It was certainly good enough for me to feature them and ask for a sample.
